Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly detail-oriented Project Engineer to coordinate and maintain schedule adherence for 7 pilot sites for the Edison charging architecture project launching in 2026. This role requires 50% travel to pilot site locations throughout the US for onsite commissioning events and testing, working directly with internal design, construction, and product teams, as well as external OEMs, General Contractors (GCs), and Electrical Contractors (ECs). The ideal candidate will excel at uncovering dependencies, proactively engaging stakeholders, and applying technical knowledge of construction and commissioning processes to identify and mitigate risks before they impact project timelines.


This position plays a critical role in ensuring successful pilot site launches while capturing lessons learned to inform future deployments.


Work Location & Travel:

  • Based in Bellevue, WA when not traveling
  • 50% travel required to pilot site locations throughout the US for onsite commissioning events and testing
  • Travel may include extended stays at pilot sites during critical commissioning phases


Key Job Responsibilities:


Program Coordination & Schedule Management:

  • Coordinate activities across 7 pilot sites to ensure on-time delivery of construction and commissioning milestones
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, identifying critical path activities and dependencies across sites
  • Proactively identify schedule risks and develop mitigation strategies in collaboration with stakeholders
  • Track and report on site progress, escalating issues to leadership when appropriate
  • Facilitate coordination between internal teams (design, construction, product) and external partners (OEMs, GCs, ECs)


Stakeholder Management & Communication:

  • Define and map stakeholder relationships for each pilot site, ensuring clear communication channels
  • Conduct regular stakeholder interviews to uncover hidden dependencies and potential roadblocks
  • Lead weekly status meetings and prepare status reports for leadership review
  • Facilitate weekly program reviews with cross-functional teams
  • Translate technical information for diverse audiences, from field technicians to executive leadership
  • Build strong working relationships with external vendors, contractors, and site hosts


Technical Oversight & Risk Management:

  • Apply knowledge of large infrastructure project construction and commissioning to anticipate common failure modes
  • Conduct site visits during critical construction and commissioning phases to identify technical issues early
  • Review equipment installation plans and commissioning procedures for completeness and feasibility
  • Understand charging equipment specifications and integration requirements sufficiently to identify potential technical conflicts
  • Document technical issues and work with engineering teams to develop solutions


Documentation & Continuous Improvement:

  • Create and maintain lessons learned documents for each pilot site, focusing on construction and commissioning processes (not test results)
  • Document best practices, common pitfalls, and recommended process improvements
  • Develop standardized templates and checklists to improve consistency across sites
  • Contribute to knowledge base for future charging infrastructure deployments
  • Maintain accurate project documentation including schedules, meeting notes, and decision logs


Escalation & Decision Support:

  • Exercise sound judgment in determining when issues require leadership escalation
  • Provide leadership with clear, concise summaries of issues including impact, options, and recommendations
  • Track escalated items to resolution and communicate outcomes to relevant stakeholders


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or related field) or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years of experience in large infrastructure project construction and commissioning
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating multiple concurrent projects or sites
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, including site preparation, electrical installation, and equipment commissioning
  • Experience working with General Contractors (GCs) and Electrical Contractors (ECs)
  • Proven ability to identify and manage project dependencies across multiple workstreams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to tailor messaging for different audiences
  • Willingness to travel 50% of the time to pilot site locations throughout the US for onsite commissioning events and testing
  • Proficiency with project management tools and documentation systems


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with EV charging infrastructure, power electronics, or electrical distribution systems
  • Knowledge of DC fast charging equipment and associated communication protocols (e.g., OCPP, ISO 15118)
  • Background in commissioning complex electrical or mechanical systems
  • Familiarity with FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) or similar risk assessment methodologies
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent
  • Experience working with OEMs on equipment integration and troubleshooting
  • Demonstrated ability to create clear, actionable documentation and lessons learned reports
  • Experience in startup or pilot program environments
  • Strong attention to detail with ability to identify discrepancies and gaps in plans or processes
  • Proven track record of proactive problem-solving and risk mitigation
