Quality Control Inspector/Analyst - Plant Hatch

Job Summary

This position is a certified Level II Quality Control inspector in all disciplines/methods. The individual should have the necessary training and experience to obtain level II certifications within six months of employment. The position is in the Engineering Support Department and will report to the Plant Support Manager at Plant Hatch near Baxley, Georgia.  

Job Summary / Responsibilities

  • Maintain all areas of knowledge and experience associated with procedures, instructions, and work orders associated with inspections and examinations as required by the Level II.
  • Initiate/Implement schedules, perform inspection planning and perform completion reviews associated with inspections, examinations, and material receipt.
  • Perform inspections, examinations and material receipt of work activities associated with plant maintenance, modifications, or construction projects in accordance with approved procedures and instructions, codes and standards.
  • Perform testing or verification of materials associated with permanent plant equipment.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of various inspection and examination programs and procedures. 
  • Responsible for assisting the certifying authority level III in the training and certification of lower-level personnel.
  • Evaluate indeterminate or unacceptable inspection or examination results for defect characterization and possible corrective measures.
  • Provide technical direction and oversight for other personnel during normal and outage work activities.
  • The candidate is expected to take a leadership role in training less experienced personnel and coordinating inspection contractor personnel during outages.          

Education/Certification Requirements

  • Must have held a Level II or III certification per NQA-1 and /or ASNT CP-189 within the last eight years. 
  • Associate or higher degree in relevant field preferred.
  • Technical training in the area of inspection resulting in ANSI Level II or III certification in the following fields is preferred: Electrical, Mechanical, I&C, Civil, Coatings.
  • Technical training in the area of nondestructive testing resulting in Level II or Level III certification in the following fields is preferred: Visual Section XI, Visual Welding, Magnetic Particle, Liquid Penetrant inspection.  

Background/Experience Requirements

  • Past or current experience in performing inspections and be able to be certified to ANSI N45.2.6 as a Level II inspector. Must be able to pass practical and written test.
  • Be able to obtain and pass the practical and written test for ANSI mechanical, electrical, civil inspections. 
  • Knowledge of 10CFR50 Appendix-B, NQA-1 Quality Programs, Code of construction for nuclear power plants, ANSI and ASME codes. 
  • Must have at least 2 years of documented experience in welding, visual inspections, MT and PT to AMSE BPVC XI experience. 
  • Familiar in the use of common computer software such as Word, Excel in generating documents.
  • Knowledge and application of the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of particular field of specialization
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the quality field.
  • Intermediate computer skills including job specific programs, spreadsheets, word processing
  • Ability to read and understand procedures, specifications and drawings and to evaluate documentation for compliance with design specifications
  • Review QA procedures to verify compliance with ASME, IEEE, and NRC regulations
  • Mechanical aptitude and Electrical background required
  • Must be able to work in hot and cold environments. Must be able to climb ladders and scaffolding to perform duties of this job. 
  • Industrial site experience is preferred.
  • Nuclear power plant experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership is desired.
  • Must be willing and able to perform on-call duties.
