Summary:

  • The Referral Intake Specialist serves as a key liaison between referral sources, patients, and insurance providers to ensure timely and accurate delivery of medically prescribed equipment and supplies. This role involves coordinating with healthcare professionals to verify prescriptions and working closely with patients and their insurance companies to secure coverage and reimbursement for the equipment and services provided by Down East Medical Supply. By managing these critical interactions, the Referral Intake Specialist helps ensure that patients receive the care and supplies they need without unnecessary delays or complications.


Responsibilities:

  • Physicians, patients, and customers are supported through the efficient and timely delivery of high-quality durable medical equipment and supplies. In performing these duties, the individual maintains professionalism and fosters positive interpersonal relationships, consistently reflecting the values and reputation of Down East Medical Supply and UNC Lenoir Health.

Qualifications

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
High School Graduate

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
One (1) year experience in the medical field filing insurance.

LICENSURE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION
None required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS
Verbal and writing skills are necessary for effective communication with referral services, insurance companies and customers. Knowledge of durable medical equipment and medical terminology.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Stressful working conditions, irregular hours, constant interruptions.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT
Ability to lift load of up to 50 lbs.
