Job Summary

The Hicks Lab in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences is seeking a motivated and organized individual for an enriching work experience on a study involving cornea ulcers and social risk factors. The ideal candidate will have experience with medical data abstraction, working remotely with visually impaired participants, and a desire to gain expertise in both psychology and ophthalmology aspects of the project, in addition to a willingness to learn skills that extend to new projects as they come. 

The assistant will gain experience working on health equity research, data sources, interviews, and EHR. The student will also be part of a large clinical study research team.

Available Openings: 1

Hours: 10-20

Hourly Rate: $15

Time Frame: Summer with potential for Fall 2026/Spring 2027

Required Qualifications*

Previous clinical research experience, working with Excel, Word, and Zoom. Hours worked will be in-person weekdays.

Desired Qualifications*

A work-study award in their financial aid package. Positive attitude, good team player and accountability are required. Experience with interviewing participants. Masters-level study in Public Health or Social Work.

Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
