The Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) Program is seeking a Responsible Engineer to support Systems Engineering Integration and Test (SEIT) for the Trident II ballistic missile on the Life Extension (LE) program. The SEIT team oversees interface definitions, plans and executes verification processes, and supports development projects under the FBM Program for LE.
The LE Missile Responsible Systems Engineer (RSE) is the technical advocate for the missile system throughout the product's life cycle, gathers performance information, supports major reviews, and participates in critical production, critical missile design decisions, and alteration activities to support overall missile system assessments.
This role provides engineering authority and accountability for missilespecific requirements, performance, reliability, and safety throughout the system lifecycle.
As the Missile RSE on the FBM LE program, you will:
- Serve as the technical expert who maintains a full understanding of the D5LE missile systems and verifies compliance with LE product certifications at the system level.
- Ensure the technical integrity of the missile while considering allocated cost and schedule constraints.
- Direct and mentor a multidisciplinary team (structures, propulsion, guidance, avionics, etc.) to deliver integrated missile solutions.
- Participate in problem investigations, test plans, and flighttest execution; assess test data and drive corrective actions.
- Integrate technical requirements with facility and fleet operation activities.
- Interface with program management, customers, and certification authorities to ensure compliance with FBM LE program requirements.
- Prepare technical reports, risk registers, and status updates for senior leadership and external stakeholders.
- Support the FBM Chief Engineer/Executive CPE (ECPE) relating to coordination and integration with missile product RSEs/CPEs and Delegates for LE.
Desired Skills
- Familiarity with Lockheed Martin Processes and Procedures.
- FBM Experience: Experience working within the FBM program.
- 2 years similar product (missile or launch vehicle) experience, 4 years related technical experience, and 3 years leadership experience.
- Prior experience as Certified Principal Engineer (CPE) on more than one product.
- Prior experience as a subsystem or system Responsible Systems Engineer (RSE).
