SCM Transactions Supervisor - Contracts - The Energy Center
Job Summary
This position leads a team of Contract Agents and is responsible for working with Category Management and Procurement to develop contracts for Southern Nuclear operating fleet. This position will report to the Mgr., Category Mgmt. & Contracts and will supervise direct reports to ensure the day to day process of contract development is tracked, managed, and completed in a timely manner including Request for Information (RFI), Request for Proposals (RFP), Request for Quotations (RFQ), review of offers upon receipt from bidders, cost & price analysis, negotiations in accordance with company policies and procedures, risk assessment, and issuance of purchase orders. This position will be responsible for reviewing direct report's work to ensure all Supply Chain Management (SCM) policies and procedures are adhered to, all contracts are properly executed, and any problems are identified or resolved/mitigated in a timely manner.
Job Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's degree in business, management, or law (or related field) highly preferred
- Advanced degree, a plus
- Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM); Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM); Certified Professional Contract Manager (CPCM); or Certified Commercial Contract Manager (CCCM) is a plus
Experience
- Previous supervisory skills over staff, major projects, or initiatives are desired
- Minimum of five years experience with sourcing and contract development is desired
- Experience drafting and negotiating complex contract terms
- Experience with communicating and interacting at all levels of the organization
Knowledge and Skills
- In depth knowledge of Supply Chain policies and procedures, as well as comprehensive knowledge of the Southern Company Contracts Manual
- Comprehensive knowledge and the ability to train others on principles for strategic sourcing and contract development
- Comprehensive knowledge of SCM Technology, i.e. Maximo, GEP, etc.
- Proven analytical skills to evaluate metrics, perform trend analysis, market research, and pricing strategies
- Must be able to demonstrate general principles for bidding techniques, cost, and price analysis, as well as contract negotiations
- Must be able to demonstrate effective communication (both verbal and written) skills with the ability to interface with business partners, engineers, suppliers, and executives, at all levels
- Excellent problem solving and organizational skills required
- Must demonstrate strong internal customer focus and commitment to customer value
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with short "turn around" times and handle multiple activities, contracts, and customers simultaneously
Job Responsibilities
Job responsibilities will include, but not be limited to performance management, workforce planning, strategic sourcing initiatives, workload assignment, and directing the daily activities of Contract Agents.
Other responsibilities include:
- Manage the activities of direct reports in support of their assigned categories
- Ensure risk mitigation for all companies
- Prepare, deliver, and present all forms of related support by project or staff to all levels of Management
- Ensure the integrity of the Sourcing Process through strict adherence to Southern Company Contracts Manual and Supply Chain Policies and Procedures
- Work with all customers to establish and manage procurement transactions across the system to support value proposition initiatives
- Engage staff to identify performance expectations to meet job expectations, demonstrate Our Values, and in meeting career and job specific skills and knowledge through effective development behaviors and performance
- Proactively identify and implement process improvements and efficiencies within the team
- Be a change agent and lead team in adoption and acceptance of change
- Actively supports the career development of employees by seeking new challenges to strengthen their professional abilities
- Building strong business practices and relationships with peers in Supply Chain Management and customers system-wide
- Actively support in the development of Supply Chain tools and technology
