Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and advise contracted security personnel to ensure safety protocols are followed.
- Oversee the functionality of video surveillance and panic systems.
- Coordinate and monitor police and fire department interactions during safety-related events.
- Retrieve video surveillance footage upon request from law enforcement.
- Collaborate with vendors to maintain and troubleshoot security systems
- Conduct and document regular safety drills in accordance with departmental standards.
- Inspect and verify safety equipment to ensure compliance with city and departmental regulations.
- Manage issuance and inventory of visitor and temporary badges for proximity entry systems.
- Supervise contracted security staff regarding patrols, fire watch duties, and adherence to schedules.
- Perform regular rounds of city facilities and grounds to identify and mitigate hazards.
- Control access to facilities and restricted areas during designated times.
- Respond to telephone alerts regarding hazards and notify appropriate authorities.
- Secure facility systems (e.g., electrical) as directed.
- Perform minor maintenance tasks and maintain required logs and records.
- Assist with administrative duties such as typing, filing, faxing, and copying.
- Train and support less experienced staff and may assign tasks as directed.
- Follow all City of Chesapeake policies and procedures (including any department-specific, HIPPA, or other regulations if needed).
