Raba Kistner is seeking an organized, dependable Senior Building Envelope Consultant to join our Building Sciences team in either San Antonio, Dallas/Ft. Worth or Austin, TX. The Senior Building Envelope Consultant will be primarily responsible for expanding the Raba Kistner Building Envelope Consulting Services capabilities, including staffing, in the assigned marketplace as well as other office locations through an integrated team approach.
The (SBEC) will be responsible for contributing to the Building Envelope Consulting Services profit center, while working with other operating groups across the Corporation. This will be accomplished by gaining recognition and acceptance of our building envelope consulting services by property developers, public and private sector owners, institutional entities, architects, consulting engineers and contractors concentrating in assigned marketplace and ultimately expanding into other regional locations.
Operationally, the (SBEC) shall be responsible for client development and project management duties, ranging from scope development, budget and proposal preparation, short list interviews, contract negotiations, building envelope forensic inspection reports, building envelope visual assessments, building envelope design and production work with associated specifications, as well as management of other internal and external consultants. They will also be responsible for technical and professional development of staff as well as leadership in client/company project meetings, site visits, invoicing and accounts receivable for designated projects and clients. The (SBEC) will support the firm’s objectives of meeting our client’s needs and expectations in a timely manner while achieving their individual and Unit’s profit objectives.
The (SBEC) actively participates and leads client development, planning, staffing and execution of projects involving building envelope consulting services; leads by example and sets the standards for creativity and inter-office and intra-office cooperation, and provides technical direction to staff consultants, architects and technicians. Other responsibilities include:
- Serve as Project Manager and/or Senior Professional on building envelope consulting and design work.
- Provide mentorship and professional development to other professional, technical, clerical and support staff employees.
- Participate in monitoring our professional practice, including QA/QC, to ensure it is in substantial compliance with generally accepted practice.
- Plan, coordinate and document satisfactory training of local architectural and technical staff.
- Review for approval prebilling invoices and prepare final invoicing as required.
- Approve and direct project purchases as required.
- Assist and support Supervisor in workload and financial forecasting and planning. Manage Building Envelope Consulting Services projects in a fiscally responsible manner.
- Review monthly project reports with Supervisor and take appropriate action when required.
- Participate with Supervisor in collection of past due invoices.
- Assist with preparation of Statement of Qualifications and Proposals
- Provide a leadership role in expanding our professional practice in assigned marketplace, ultimately expanding this service line to other regional office locations. This will involve direct marketing with Clients identified in a structured marketing program.
- Work with the Direct Report and Corporate Development in coordinating local business development programs.
- Understand, adhere and participate in the Raba Kistner Health and Safety and Behavior Based Safety Programs and set a good safety example.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum High School Diploma or GED. Preferred: Bachelor's degree in related field.
- A minimum of 15 years of experience in the design and construction industry, with an emphasis on Architectural and Building Envelope consulting.
- Registered Roofing Consultant (RRC) or Registered Waterproofing Consultant (RWC) designation preferred, but not a requirement.
- Possess valid Texas driver’s license and meet company’s auto insurability requirements.
Good oral and written communications skills and ability to work in teams at different levels within the organization. Management skills to supervise project teams, monitor, and evaluate progress of projects. Possess good comprehension skills to prevent costly and time-consuming problems. Intermediate skill level in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook). Must be self-motivated with good attendance record and be able to work independently.

Work related responsibilities require travel out of town to Raba-Kistner offices, client offices, and project locations. Ability to travel to project sites and maneuver over rough and uneven terrain.
