Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer with strong experience in Python, SQL, and AWS to join our Mexico Delivery Center. This role is responsible for designing and developing data pipelines, optimizing data storage, and enabling scalable data solutions in the AWS ecosystem. The ideal candidate combines deep technical skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across architecture, analytics, and DevOps teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and ETL workflows using Python, SQL, and AWS data services.
- Build and optimize data lakes and data warehouses leveraging AWS S3, Glue, Redshift, and Athena.
- Implement data ingestion and transformation processes from various structured and unstructured data sources.
- Develop and automate data validation, quality checks, and monitoring frameworks.
- Collaborate with data architects and analysts to define data models, schemas, and governance standards.
- Ensure performance optimization, cost efficiency, and security compliance within the AWS environment.
- Write clean, modular, and reusable Python scripts to automate and streamline data processing.
- Support CI/CD pipelines for data solutions using Git-based version control and AWS DevOps tools.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and enhance existing data pipelines to improve reliability and scalability.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering, data integration, or software development roles.
- Advanced proficiency in Python for data processing, automation, and pipeline orchestration.
- Strong knowledge of SQL (joins, CTEs, stored procedures, query optimization).
- Hands-on experience with AWS services such as Glue, Redshift, Lambda, S3, Athena, and Step Functions.
- Familiarity with data modeling and data warehouse architectures.
- Experience with ETL/ELT tools (Airflow, AWS Glue, Informatica, or similar).
- Understanding of data governance, security, and compliance frameworks.
- Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile delivery environments.
- English proficiency (B2+ level) for collaboration with international teams.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Pandas, PySpark, or SQLAlchemy for advanced data processing.
- Knowledge of data orchestration frameworks (Airflow, Prefect).
- Exposure to data observability tools and monitoring frameworks (CloudWatch, Datadog).
- Familiarity with Terraform, Docker, or Kubernetes for cloud infrastructure management.
- AWS certifications such as AWS Data Analytics Specialty or AWS Solutions Architect Associate.
