Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer with advanced expertise in SQL, Databricks, and Oracle database scripting to support a large-scale data modernization and cloud migration initiative. This role will lead the design and redevelopment of data pipelines and SQL packages as part of a transformation from on-prem Oracle environments to AWS cloud-based architectures.
The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently while collaborating closely with product and data teams to deliver high-quality, production-ready solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize complex SQL queries, scripts, and stored procedures to support analytics and reporting needs.
- Rewrite and migrate existing Oracle-based ETL scripts and workflows for ingestion into AWS S3 and Databricks environments.
- Build, manage, and maintain data pipelines supporting cloud migration from on-prem systems to AWS.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data requirements, architecture, and migration strategy.
- Work closely with product owners and technical leads to translate business logic into scalable data solutions.
- Contribute to a 12-week Databricks + Stibo POC, ensuring smooth data ingestion, transformation, and validation.
- Ensure data quality, consistency, and traceability across systems through strong validation and QA processes.
- Support data transformation, metadata management, and performance optimization across environments.
- Document workflows, logic, and dependencies clearly to enable long-term maintenance and transparency.
- Demonstrate ownership, initiative, and minimal dependency on technical leads for daily execution.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or SQL Developer in large-scale enterprise environments.
- Expert-level SQL skills for query writing, performance tuning, and data modeling.
- Hands-on experience with Databricks for ETL, data transformation, and analytics.
- Strong working knowledge of Oracle Database scripting and migration practices.
- Experience with AWS S3 and cloud-based data storage/processing workflows.
- Proven experience in data ingestion, ETL development, and data migration from on-prem to cloud.
- Familiarity with Python or shell scripting for data automation.
- Understanding of data lake and data warehouse architectures.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
- English proficiency (B2+ level) for collaboration with global teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Stibo or similar MDM/data governance platforms.
- Familiarity with cloud migration frameworks and DevOps pipelines.
- Certifications in AWS Data Engineering, Databricks Certified Data Engineer, or Oracle Database Developer.
- Experience participating in proof-of-concept (POC) or cloud migration projects.
- Exposure to data governance, metadata management, or data quality tools.
Soft Skills
- Highly independent and proactive, able to deliver with minimal guidance.
- Strong problem-solving mindset and ownership of technical challenges.
- Collaborative, with the ability to communicate clearly with both product and engineering teams.
