Position Overview

Apex Systems Mexico is seeking a Senior Data Modeler (Analytics) to lead the design and standardization of logical and conceptual data models across complex business domains. This role plays a critical part in enabling scalable analytics and BI capabilities by defining the structures and relationships that power the gold layer of modern data architectures.

The ideal candidate brings deep experience in data modeling, governance, and collaboration across data engineering and analytics teams, ensuring alignment between business definitions, enterprise standards, and technical implementations.

• Lead the design and maintenance of logical and conceptual data models supporting analytics and BI reporting requirements.
• Collaborate with enterprise data architecture and canonical modeling teams to extend, refine, and standardize data domains.
• Ensure alignment of all models with medallion architecture principles (raw, curated, and gold zones) and enterprise data governance frameworks.
• Define business entities, relationships, hierarchies, and data rules to ensure consistency across domains.
• Partner with data engineers to translate logical designs into optimized physical models in Snowflake, Databricks, or similar environments.
• Document and maintain data definitions, lineage, and metadata to support analytics and self-service BI initiatives.
• Oversee data quality, versioning, and change management across multiple modeling projects.
• Support the evolution of data models for AI/ML readiness, ensuring scalability and semantic clarity.
• Provide modeling guidance, mentorship, and technical leadership to mid-level modelers and data engineers.

• 6+ years of professional experience as a Data Modeler, Data Architect, or BI-focused Data Engineer.
• Strong expertise in logical and dimensional modeling for analytics and reporting systems.
• Advanced proficiency in modeling tools such as Hackolade (preferred), ER/Studio, or ERWin.
• Deep understanding of medallion architecture and data layering for analytics environments.
• Proven experience managing slowly changing dimensions (SCDs), complex joins, and many-to-many relationships.
• Experience working in multi-domain data environments (e.g., manufacturing, retail, logistics, or sales).
• Understanding of data governance, data cataloging, and metadata management principles.
• Familiarity with Snowflake, Databricks, or other modern cloud data warehouses.
• Strong communication and documentation skills with experience influencing data design decisions.
• English proficiency (B2+ level) for communication with global teams.

• Exposure to canonical modeling frameworks and enterprise data standardization initiatives.
• Experience collaborating with data engineers and BI teams to operationalize models into production.
• Familiarity with Unity Catalog, data lineage tools, and ETL/ELT orchestration frameworks.
• Knowledge of data modeling for AI/ML pipelines and semantic layer design.
• Agile delivery experience in distributed, multi-functional teams.
