Job Summary:
The Senior Industrial Engineer is the key link to providing technical support to plant IEs on standards layout, direct & indirect labor, and material flow. The Senior Industrial Engineer is also responsible for having technical expertise in standard labor analysis and Lean Manufacturing. The Senior Industrial Engineer will reinforce and execute key performance measurements to monitor and exceed department goals.
Essential functions of the job:
- Current plant layout ownership – ensure accuracy / alignment with Floor Space Planning Tool (FSPT).
- Alignment of plant layout drawing with AutoCAD® standards.
- Lean flow proposals / improvements to overall facility flow.
- New business (Phase 2-5) layout support – defining where new business fits in the plant.
- Warehouse requirements planning utilizing Plan for Every Part (PFEP) Matrix.
- Indirect labor planning for plant utilizing Flow Planner® software.
- Support Materials & SCM groups with line side racking decisions, supermarket flow, kitting, and part delivery methods.
- Adherence to guidelines and standards for internal logistics / material flow.
- Value Stream Mapping – current and future state with plan for gap closure.
- Kaizen support – CI project collaboration.
- Kaizen leadership for lean flow / density / floor space utilization improvements.
- Direct labor time studies / MODAPTS® / line balancing.
- New program direct labor planning, including reviews of “Process Book” with AME.
- Indirect labor time studies / work sampling / work balancing.
- New program indirect labor planning, including use of Flow Planner® software.
- Maintenance of a central database of all MODAPTS® / time studies for the plant.
- Support plant key improvement initiatives and IE functional projects as required.
Required Education:
Bachelor's Level Degree
Industrial Engineering or similar.
5-7 Minimum Years of Experience with Engineering.
5 Minimum Years of Experience within the automotive industry desired.
- Must be able and willing to travel if needed.
- Computer literacy.
- Proficient organizational skills.
- Excellent oral communication skills.
