What’s the role
Provide input for IH plan and strategy, deliver more complex IH activities and ensure local compliance with legislative and Shell requirements to support the business in protecting worker health.
This role will:
Be accountable for IH planning, delivery, and advice for Geismar Chemical Plant
Lead the delivery of agreed Industrial Hygiene activities and support using standardized tools and processes
Provide proactive advice to asset on emerging hazards and new regulations.
Share learnings and good practice across asset types
Deliver hands-on as well as strategically, developing a broader overview of health and hygiene issues for Geismar Chemical Plant, defining the tools and processes necessary for efficient health risk management
Assess and ensure compliance with legislative and Shell industrial hygiene requirements
Coach and mentor IH (technicians) and act as a counsel for other (health) disciplines on IH
Quality-assure and approve internal and external industrial hygiene consultancy and analysis services
Build and manage relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
Audit, review and approve health risk assessments and monitoring studies
Participate in HSSE inspections, audits and committees
When faced with business issues and requests, first leverage existing expertise from the asset class specialists
What you bring
Must have legal authorization to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis for anyone other than the current employer
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene or a Science discipline (Chemical, Physics, or Biology); Master’s degree (Preferred)
Registered/accreditation in Industrial Hygiene (Certified IH) (Preferred)
5+ years of experience in Industrial Hygiene practice
Experience in gas, oil, chemicals, or renewable energy (Preferred)
Thorough understanding of local and regional legislative requirements regarding workplace health and safety
Experience in advising management on industrial hygiene requirements in line with business and/or functional needs and priorities
Fluent in English with strong verbal and written skills
Driver’s license
What we offer
The base salary range for this position is $122,000.00 - $182,000.00 per year. Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.
For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave for birthing parents, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.
Additionally, employees are eligible for short-term disability leave for up to 26 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay as well as Long-Term Disability insurance. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives. For interns, eligible benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs; participation in a 401(k) plan; and paid leave for up to 11 paid holidays.
