JOB DESCRIPTION
Apex is seeking a highly skilled Senior Lead Technology Strategy Internal Practice Consultant within our Consulting Practice as part of our Apex Systems Solutions Delivery Organization. The successful candidate will have expertise in business strategy, program strategy and transformation. They should be able to demonstrate advanced technical acumen across the software development life cycle (SDLC), with expertise in solution architecture, technology frameworks, governance processes, and operating model design. This role demands a hands-on leader who can translate complex business requirements into robust technological strategies, drive innovation, and ensure adoption of industry standards and emerging technologies. This role is best suited for someone with a deep understanding of organizational operating models, and best practices, to support all elements of the enterprise, including tools, processes and people perspectives. An ideal candidate shows a passion for mentoring, communicates clearly, and leverages tact in dealing with all levels of personnel while creating a compelling vision of the end game. This role will lead engagements, influencing people, leaders and management that directly interface with and oversee transformations. The Senior Lead Consultant will also provide subject matter expertise and will help to mentor Apex Systems’ internal Consultants in their career growth and development. This role will be responsible for meeting client deliverables and internal consulting practice contributions and leadership. Travel may be required.
RESPONSIBLITIES
- Establish strong relationships with clients, industry professionals, and technical communities. Represent Apex Systems as leaders at industry and professional events, while developing and maintaining a robust internal and external customer relationship.
- Exhibit technical knowledge, skills, and effective professional consulting abilities. Foster trust and respect among internal and external stakeholders and model collaborative teamwork.
- Facilitate workshops to define and refine client strategic planning and roadmap, leveraging established consulting frameworks such as SWOT, PESTLE, and Porter’s Five Forces.
- Conduct stakeholder alignment sessions to ensure consensus and commitment, applying change management models such as ADKAR and Kotter’s 8-Step Process.
- Perform technology impact assessments to understand the implications of strategic decisions, using gap analysis and maturity models.
- Develop comprehensive strategic roadmaps that outline clear steps and milestones, employing methodologies such as Balanced Scorecard and OKRs.
- Develop and execute comprehensive technology strategies that align business goals with technological capabilities, emphasizing scalability, security, and performance.
- Lead end-to-end SDLC initiatives, including requirements gathering, system design, architecture reviews, testing strategies, deployment, and post-launch optimization.
- Design robust technology frameworks and reference architectures to facilitate integration, reliability, and future growth.
- Establish and maintain IT governance processes, including technical standards, code quality benchmarks, risk controls, and regulatory compliance procedures.
- Analyze, assess, and select technology platforms and tools, leveraging industry research and hands-on prototyping.
- Develop and refine operating models to optimize resource allocation, automate workflows, and improve cross-functional collaboration.
- Collaborate with senior stakeholders, engineers, and architects to identify opportunities for digital transformation and modernization.
- Develop and implement change management and adoption strategies, integrating proven consulting methodologies for sustainable transformation.
- Evaluate the culture and structure of the organization. Plan and execute culture shift and innovation initiatives through design thinking, agile transformation, and continuous improvement cycles.
- Lead technical teams in the delivery of complex, multi-disciplinary technology projects, providing mentorship and fostering a culture of technical excellence.
- Oversee and ensure all deliverables are met in alignment with the Statement of Work with a focus on exceptional delivery. Develop and track metrics to evaluate the performance of the project, including KPIs and project success metrics. Create workflows, dashboards, and reports to provide the team with meaningful operational and performance metrics. Create and present bi-weekly and quarterly project status reports for clients.
- Demonstrate professional consulting skills, leadership abilities, and executive-level communication and presentation skills. Show adaptability and flexibility to meet business needs.
- Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies including cloud services, DevOps practices, data governance, security frameworks, and AI-driven solutions.
- Continually seek creative solutions and find new ways to add value. Understand client needs, proactively provide solutions, and approach challenges with a consultative, solution-focused mindset.
- Stay current with technological trends, standards organizations, and regulatory changes to advise on best practices and future-proof strategies.
- Stay attuned to the future needs of the client and work with internal resources to identify opportunities. Participate in sales pursuits by providing strategic guidance, estimates, scoping and other pre-sales activities. Liaise between the product teams, business teams and IT teams to ensure delivery expectations are met.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- 8+ years of experience in management and technology consulting, digital transformation, and technology optimization, with demonstrable SDLC and architectural leadership.
- 5+ years’ experience as a Project and Program Manager in a large organization
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field (applicable education and experience may be substituted) Master’s Degree a plus.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., TOGAF, PMP, ITIL, Prosci, CCMP, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Scrum Master) strongly preferred.
- Expertise in designing and implementing technology frameworks, operating models, and governance processes for large-scale enterprises.
- In-depth understanding of enterprise architecture methodologies, technical standards, and technology assessment frameworks.
- Proficiency in requirements analysis, solution architecture, and platform selection.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), DevOps toolchains, automation, and cybersecurity best practices.
- Familiarity with data architecture, governance, compliance standards and advanced analytics skills preferred.
- Familiarity with management consulting principles, including structured problem solving, hypothesis-driven analysis, and client engagement best practices.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, including root cause analysis and issue tree development.
- Exceptional communication, facilitation, and presentation abilities, with experience in executive-level stakeholder management.
- Experience with change management and fostering cultures of innovation is a plus.
- Familiar with all project methodologies, including Agile, Waterfall and hybrid with ability to adapt to the project needs.
- Must be a team player with strong interpersonal skills, able to work in team setting and independently. Exceptional leadership, time management and organizational skills.
