The role:
We’re looking for a seasoned professional to lead the design and development of mainframe and web-based applications that power critical business operations. In this role, you’ll analyze requirements, plan and build complex solutions, and integrate systems that keep our organization running efficiently. You’ll also serve as a trusted technical expert diagnosing issues, troubleshooting problems, and ensuring our systems perform at their best. A day in the life:
Keep our mainframe development environment running smoothly and support good software development practices.
Design and build complex systems and find creative solutions to tough problems.
Document how our current systems work so we can plan for the future.
Make sure data is accurate and works well across different systems; help design database structures.
Plan and manage how our systems connect with state, federal, and third-party systems.
Research new technologies and figure out how they can help us; guide the team in improving development processes.
Review project work, check code for quality, and make sure standards are followed.
Work with business partners to deliver solutions, fix problems, and train users on new systems.
Solve performance issues in critical systems and recommend improvements.
Create plans to keep the business running during disruptions and help with testing and system updates.
Work is performed in an office environment with hybrid work options available.

Minimum qualifications:
Six (6) years of information systems experience in application development and production for IS applications
OR
An associate's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field AND four (4) years of information systems experience in application development and production for IS applications
OR
A bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or related field AND two (2) years of information systems experience in application development and production for IS applications
OR
Master's degree in information technology, computer science, or related field may substitute for all of the above.

Expertise and knowledge of mainframe technologies including COBOL, IBM DB2, TSO/ISPF,
REXX/CLIST, PANVALET, SYNCSORT, ESP Scheduler, AQT, JCL, SQL.
Comprehensive knowledge in designing, developing, monitoring and maintaining DB2 databases using
industry-standard methods and procedures.
Experience in reverse engineering complex systems with little or no system documentation.
Skilled in software and system architecture design practices from concept to implementation.
Preferred information systems experience in the transportation industry.
