Position Summary
As a Senior Manager, Data Science within the INDIGO | AI Innovation Lab, you will play a hands-on role in developing analytical, traditional ML, and AI products and in supporting delivery of prioritized AI use cases on our roadmap. You will collaborate with business stakeholders on specific deliverables, maintain ownership of your work and ensure timely delivery of quality products. You will bring solid technical expertise and a strong sense of work ownership to a deeply collaborative setup, where AI innovation with strong business integration is paramount. The ideal candidate will have experience with data science and AI applications in the pharmaceutical or health-related industry. This role is based in our Waltham location and follows a hybrid office schedule.
Responsibilities
RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical Development and Execution
- Design, develop, and deploy data science solutions including GenAI chatbot applications, predictive models, and NLP tools, supporting broader product development lifecycle
- Contribute to the development of scalable, production-ready code using best practices in DevOps and MLOps
- Stay current with emerging technologies and integrate them into team solutions where appropriate
Project Support and Collaboration
- Support data science initiatives across the organization, including stakeholder management for your deliverables, owning the execution and delivery
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions
- Communicate insights and recommendations clearly to stakeholders with varying levels of technical expertise
- Manage your deliverable timelines through clear and timely communication of progress, blockers, and ideation discussions with project leads and stakeholders
Product Ownership and Maintenance
- Maintain and enhance analytical products under the team’s ownership
- Ensure reliability, scalability, and continued relevance of data science tools and platforms
Team Contribution and Growth
- Contribute to a collaborative, learning-oriented team culture by sharing knowledge, offering peer support, and participating in team development initiatives
- Support continuous improvement by actively engaging in retrospectives, process enhancements, and technical knowledge sharing across the team
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
Education
- Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field
- 3–5 years of experience in data science, with a track record of delivering impactful solutions
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in production programming in languages such as Python and SQL. Experience with pandas, Numpy, scikit-learn, and PyTorch.
- Experience with graph databases (e.g. Neo4J) and RAG architecture is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with cloud computing and ML platforms – AWS platform, Dataiku and Snowflake experience required. Big Data Technologies (e.g. Spark) preferred.
- Understanding of ML algorithms, LLMs, statistical analysis, and MLOps practices
- Exposure to data engineering and governance best practices (DBT strongly preferred)

- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to shifting priorities
- Effective communication and collaboration skills
- Demonstrated ownership and accountability in delivering technical solutions
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in pharmaceutical / biotechnology industry; experience in CNS space strongly preferred
- Familiarity with regulatory standards for data use in healthcare (e.g., HIPAA)
- Exposure to GenAI innovation and graph analytics
- Ability to work a hybrid weekly office schedule in our Waltham location
The annual base salary for this position ranges from $165,000 to $180,000. In addition, this position is eligible for an annual performance pay bonus.
