Senior Manager, QA Automation
Job Description
The Team
The Senior Manager of QA Automation is the strategic and technical leader who defines, builds, and drives our organization’s automation vision. The Senior Manager establishes the automation roadmap, selects the appropriate tooling and frameworks, and sets the standards, key performance indicators (“KPIs”), and best practices needed to enhance system reliability, reduce operational and regulatory risks, and streamline change validation across business‑critical applications.
Acting as both an architect and practitioner, the Senior Manager is hands‑on in developing automation frameworks, integrating automated testing into continuous integration/continuous delivery (“CI/CD”) workflows, and partnering closely with Global IT teams. Through cross‑functional collaboration and thoughtful leadership, the Senior Manager helps modernize how we validate changes, supports business‑critical workflows, and ensures that quality and automation become embedded across our technology ecosystem.
What You Can Offer Us
- Lead the development and execution of American Tower’s automation strategy, ensuring alignment with tower operations, tenant lifecycle workflows, enterprise applications, and global IT standards.
- Establish automation standards, KPIs, and quality practices that enhance system stability, support compliance objectives, and reduce risk across business‑critical systems.
- Architect and maintain automation frameworks supporting user interface (“UI”), application programming interface (“API”), integration, and data validation testing across platforms such as Salesforce, Siterra, Oracle EBS, asset management tools, and operational systems used across our global footprint.
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD workflows and release management processes to increase efficiency, reduce manual regression efforts, and improve consistency in change validation.
- Serve as a hands‑on technical expert by developing automated tests, stabilizing existing automation, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring reliable executions of automated test suites.
- Promote automation adoption through coaching, best practices, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide regular updates to IT leaders, highlighting automation progress, results, KPIs, and contributions to operational efficiency, system reliability, and risk reduction.
- Drive quality testing improvements that align with internal standards for reliability, performance, compliance, and business continuity.
What You Need To Succeed
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience required.
- At least seven years of QA, test automation, or software quality engineering experience, with a strong track record of building and maintaining automation solutions required.
- Experience supporting enterprise or global technology environments, ideally those involving operational, infrastructure, or business‑critical systems strongly preferred.
- Exposure to structured release processes, governance requirements, or compliance frameworks (e.g., SOX, audit support) preferred.
- Formal or informal leadership experience in guiding automation initiatives and influencing best practices across diverse teams preferred.
- Strong hands‑on experience developing automated tests and building automation frameworks for UI, API, data, or integration workflows required.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, or Java, and familiarity with modern automation tooling and frameworks required.
- Ability to design scalable automation approaches that increase system reliability, streamline validation activities, and improve release quality required.
- Experience working with enterprise SaaS applications such as Salesforce or financial/business systems used across global operations strongly preferred.
- Success integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and improving release processes through automation strongly preferred.
- Strong communication and stakeholder‑management skills; able to partner effectively with application owners, business systems teams, IT, and leaders.
- A continuous improvement mindset with the ability to identify high‑impact automation opportunities, drive adoption, and support operational efficiencies.
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands‑on execution while maturing automation practices long‑term.
- Strong sense of ownership and accountability, with a commitment to raising quality testing standards across the organization.
