Our client, a leading global conservation organization is seeking a Senior Media Relations Manager to support its Global Media Relations and Reputation team for about 3-4 months. This role will report to the Director of Global Media Relations and Reputation and will focus on securing high-impact media coverage in elite U.S. outlets that elevate the organizations global conservation work.

This is a remote role, 35 hours per week, but ideally candidates will be located in NY or DC for occasional onsite collaboration.

Senior Media Relations Manager Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategic public relations and media campaigns to promote global initiatives
- Collaborate with subject matter experts, field teams, and spokespersons to identify and shape compelling stories
- Pitch stories to top-tier U.S. and Global media outlets across print, radio, broadcast, and podcasts
- Draft press releases, talking points, and media pitches
- Provide media training and facilitate interviews with organizational representatives
- Coordinate with state teams to surface local stories with global relevance
- Manage external vendor responsible for daily news clip distribution
- Advise internal teams on media strategy and newsworthiness
- Lead campaign project management and contribute to overall media strategy
- Maintain and leverage strong media relationships to secure coverage
- Utilize media monitoring tools such as Meltwater

Senior Media Relations Manager Requirements:
- Proven experience in media relations, particularly with national U.S. and Global outlets
- Strong understanding of what makes a story newsworthy to journalists
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Experience providing media training and strategic counsel
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams
- Familiarity with media monitoring tools (Meltwater preferred)
- Conservation or nonprofit experience is a plus, but not required
- Based in DC or NY preferred for occasional onsite collaboration
