Job Description
The purpose of this position is to provide support in all facets to the Legal Department including, litigation, internal investigations, contracts, governmental filings, legal research, database set-up and maintenance and related matters, and to coordinate or manage individual projects.
This position follows a hybrid work schedule. Employees are required to be in the office four (4) days per week.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES BY COMPETENCY
Functional Expertise:
- Assists attorneys with managing pre-litigation and litigation matters.
- Process incoming subpoenas, collect responsive information and prepare submissions.
- Coordinate and conduct internal investigations and discovery responses.
- Prepares, under attorney supervision, non-disclosure agreements, municipal franchise ordinances and other agreements.
- Prepares, issues and manages, under attorney supervision, legal holds using Company-approved software application.
- Manages invoice processing and payment for outside legal services using Company-approved software applications and applying departmental guidelines.
- Performs legal research; summarizes research and/or findings.
- Provide legal support to all of the attorneys in the department, including check requests, vendor payee forms, IT access and change forms, and FedEx labels.
- Other duties commensurate with a Senior Paralegal role.
Business Acumen:
- Understands Thomspon Reuters Legal Tracker billing system and department billing guidelines.
- Understands Microsoft Sharepoint and other Microsoft 365 services.
- Understands procedures for preparation and submission of certain court and regulatory filings and coordinates associated information gathering with other internal departments.
- Understands how to perform legal research.
Engagement:
- Communicates with outside legal counsel regarding certain litigation matters with respect to document gathering and scheduling.
- Communicate with local courts regarding certain filings.
- Engages management in various internal departments in processing contracts.
Driving Results:
- Responsible for processing and maintaining Thomspon Reuters Legal Tracker billing system.
- Responsible for submission of certain court and regulatory filings.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Certifications/Licenses:
Required:
- Associate’s degree or BA/BS degree in legal, business, economics, or similar fields, or equivalent work experience.
Preferred:
- Paralegal certification
Related Work Experience:
Required:
- 5 years’ experience in a law firm or corporate legal department
Specific Skills & Knowledge:
Required:
- Computer skills - intermediate proficiency.
- Project management.
- Interpersonal skills.
- Research skills.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
- Keyboarding = Constant 67-100%
- On-Call = None
