As search evolves toward AI-powered engines and conversational interfaces, we're seeking a strategic thinker to lead our transition from traditional SEO to Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) and Answer Engine Optimization (AEO).
As the Senior Search Strategist, you will define and execute the roadmap to optimize MathWorks' digital presence for emerging search paradigms. You'll collaborate across teams to ensure our content is discoverable, structured, and aligned with how users interact with generative and answer-based search platforms.

Responsibilities
- Lead the strategic transition from SEO to GEO/AEO, aligning with business goals and digital strategy.
- Monitor and evaluate trends in generative AI and answer engines (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AIOs, Bing Copilot, voice assistants).
- Audit existing content and search strategies to identify optimization opportunities.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with content, product, and technical teams to structure and optimize content for AI-driven search.
- Define and implement best practices for structured data, entity optimization, and conversational content.
- Establish KPIs and measurement frameworks to track GEO/AEO performance and communicate impact to stakeholders.
- Champion and educate internal teams on GEO/AEO best practices strategies through training and documentation.
- Partner with analytics teams to monitor performance, surface insights and refine strategies.
- Engage with external vendors, platforms and industry groups to ensure MathWorks remains at the forefront of search innovation.
Qualifications
- SEO experience required, GEO/AEO experience preferred
- Deep understanding of search engine algorithms, structured data, and AI's role in search.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional digital initiatives and deliver measurable results.
- Strong analytical skills and experience with web analytics and search performance tools.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience in B2B or technical content environments preferred.

- A bachelor's degree and 6 years of professional work experience (or a master's degree and 3 years of professional work experience, or equivalent experience) is required.
