Job Description
Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking to hire a Principal Systems Engineer/Sr. Principal Systems Engineer to join its team of diverse and qualified individuals. This position will be located in Bellevue, NEand will support the Sentinel (GBSD) program in the Strategic Deterrent Systems (SDS) division. Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force's sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities and associated infrastructure. This position may be filled at a higher level based on the qualifications below. This position may consider DoD SkillBridge program candidates.
Roles and Responsibilities
• This Systems Engineer position will support activities including use case development, requirements definition / allocation, functional decomposition, interface definition, verification & validation, and requirements traceability.
• Collaborate with program IPT counterparts to develop supporting systems engineering and design artifacts.
• Work with both technical teams and stakeholders to develop and mature architecture content of large programs design.
• Help develop and incorporate the appropriate requirements for the system and ensure that they are properly represented in the model.
• Develop systems architecture using Cameo Enterprise Architecture (behavioral, structural, analytical).
• Contribute to system requirements development, management, and analysis.
• Develop unifying model techniques, procedures, and processes (for model development, tool integration, and team integration).
Basic Qualifications
This position may be filled at a Principal or Sr. Principal level
• Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need
• Requires a bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with 5 years of related experience; a master's degree with 3 years; or a PhD with 1 year (Sr Principal level requires a BS degree with 8 years; MS degree with 6 years; or a PhD with 4 years)
• Requires 1 year of experience (2 years for Sr Principal) with requirements management/analysis/allocations OR Equivalent Graduate Certificate (e.g., CalTech SE Fundamentals);
• Requires 1 year of experience (2 years for Sr Principal) with Model-Based Engineering / Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBE/MBSE) practices, languages and/or tools such as Cameo, Rhapsody or MagicDRAW OR Equivalent Graduate Certificate (e.g., CalTech MBSE)
• Requires 1 year of experience (2 years for Sr Principal) with one or more of the following: C2, physical security, cybersecurity, Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3) systems/processes, communications systems, facility design, military aerospace development (e.g. Sentinel, Minute Man III, B-2, B-21 delivery systems)
Preferred Qualifications
• Active DoD Top Secret Clearance
• Understanding of the Systems Engineering V-Model
• Experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS
• Experience in SysML or UPDM modeling languages
• Proficiency with the DoDAF, UAF, or other modeling frameworks
• 3+ years experience modeling with Cameo Enterprise Architecture, MagicDraw (No Magic, Inc.) or other architecture modeling tools
• Experience using tools to model large systems with multiple developers
• Experience exporting documentation out of a model-based environment
• Experience in Software and/or Hardware design
• Experience in documenting Interface Control Documents, Interface Requirement Specifications, and Interface Description Documents
• Experience with software defined hardware structures (i.e., software defined radars and field programmable gate arrays)
• Experience with modeling and simulation programs such as the Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration and Modeling (AFSIM)
• Experience with applying hypervisors, cross-domain solutions, multi-level security systems, or modular open systems approach to integrated systems
• Experience with scripting and coding languages such as Python
• Experience with Agile Development
• Experience with ICBM weapon system sustainment engineering and integration
• Experience with complex system development on large programs
• Self-driven, able to tackle challenges, solve problems with minimal oversight and make recommendations for solutions/process improvement to leadership
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Primary Level Salary Range: $95,300.00 - $142,900.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $118,600.00 - $178,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
