This position is full-time on-site in Warner Robins, GA and will support the Integrated Mission Solutions (IMS) Operating Unit, within the Northrop Grumman Defense Systems sector. This location primarily supports the design, delivery, and sustainment of embedded software and mission planning systems on various US and foreign airborne platforms. The Quality and Mission Assurance organization is chartered with providing the skills and experience required to support a robust Quality Management System designed to ensure products and services meet or exceed internal and external customer requirements and promote mission success.  This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80, to allow employees every other Friday off.
The Principal Software Quality Engineer responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Perform process audits of software development processes to assure compliance to established policies, procedures, work instructions, and program specific plans.

• Review customer, system and software requirements to ensure the flow down of requirements is complete and unambiguous.

• Interpret customer technical, software, and quality requirements and ensure those requirements are integrated into program plans, specifications, and product documents.

• Provide technical and process oversight of the full Software and Systems product development lifecycle, including software, system, integration, test, cyber, safety, airworthiness, electrical, and configuration and data management.

• Collaborate with Program and Engineering management on program quality planning and the establishment of program quality objectives.

• Participate in contractual reviews and audits, program/IPT meetings, and configuration control board meetings.

• Collaborate with software engineering and systems engineering functions to ensure quality standards are in place and followed.

• Peer review software documents to ensure appropriate content and adherence to standards.

• Witness execution of software qualification and system acceptance tests to ensure tests are executed in accordance with approved test procedures, requirements are fully verified, and that all test procedure and software anomalies are documented and tracked to closure.

• Support CMMI and AS9100 audit activities and audits quality systems for non-conformance identification and corrective action.

• Evaluate and ensure software suppliers possess the capability and capacity necessary to execute and deliver procured software with unquestionable quality.

• Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable quality standards, and that documentation is compliant with requirements.

• Collect and analyze quality metrics on software activities.

• Examine the products associated with the preparation and configuration control of software test environments to assess the team's readiness to enter formal testing.

• Ensure compliance with contract program, quality, organizational, and industry alert requirements.

• Analyze and interpret trends and execute improvements on key metrics.

• Crosstrain in hardware quality.

Basic Qualifications: 

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, another STEM degree or equivalent and at least 5 years of software experience or 3 years with a Master's degree or 0 years with a PhD in one of the above disciplines.

• Must have knowledge of software development processes including Agile, Waterfall, and Spiral Development processes

• Must have knowledge of C, C++, and Java

• Must have experience in process and product evaluation.

• Ability to understand and work with multiple enterprise-wide systems and software problem tracking tools such as DOORs, Jira, Confluence, and BitBucket

• Experience in software build testing, qualification, and Integration and Test

• Ability to obtain a DOD Secret clearance

• US citizenship required.

• Active Secret Clearance

• Knowledge of Root Cause and Corrective Action tools

• Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Work well under pressure and adapt well to unplanned tasks

• Ability and willingness to continuously learn and implement new processes

• Experience with ISO and AS9100 standards requirements

• Demonstrated ability prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines 

• Experience in process monitoring, data collection, analysis, and metric reporting for a large program/supplier-base.

Primary Level Salary Range: $86,600.00 - $130,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
