SUMMARY:

The Sr. Plant Manager must follow all plant safety, Good Manufacturing Practices and Food Safety rules and regulations for assigned locations. Documentation and paperwork procedures must be followed as well as verbal and / or written instructions and guidelines according to the job requirements. The Sr. Plant Manager will be responsible for the overall operations of their assigned plant(s). They are the senior site manager for their location(s). Additionally, the Sr. Plant Manager will be responsible for an additional Bulk Site to assure and support the productivity, staffing, leadership, continuous improvement, and overall success of Mizkan America, Inc. bulk operation locations within their team. This role has direct reports.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with Mizkan America safety policies, OSHA regulations, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), and SOP (Standard Operating Procedures).
  • Directs the day-to-day operations of the assigned facilities through department managers, supervisors and support staff.
  • Analyzes manufacturing, personnel, materials, logistics, and other problems. Champions high priority corrective actions.
  • Builds a strong, achievement-oriented team by using the appropriate mix of hiring, delegation, training, monitoring, feedback, coaching, motivation, mentoring, and employee retention techniques.
  • Evaluates performance and actively promotes and recognizes individual efforts and achievements.
  • Ensures plant staff enforces company policies and procedures, plant-wide safety and security rules, and employee rules of conduct.
  • Integrates organizational changes and new processes.
  • Ensures customer satisfaction through corrective and preventive actions and the application of continuous product quality improvements.
  • Ensures plant sanitation and quality standards are consistent with Federal, State, Local, and Company requirements.
  • Interfaces with AIB, Kosher Council, State/Federal agencies (FDA, OSHA, EPA, etc.), third party auditors, and other regulatory agencies. Addresses issues pertaining to product quality, wastewater treatment, air quality, etc.
  • Recommends the plant’s operating budget. Manages and controls expenditures and variances.
  • Manages assets and ensures inventory accuracy.
  • Reduces scrap and waste and initiates other cost reduction activities throughout the facility.
  • Identifies, researches, proposes, implements, tracks, and evaluates capital projects.
  • Provides timely information and reports on issues that affect plant performance and other critical matters.
  • Oversees the development, implementation, and adherence of SOP’s that result in improved product quality and efficiency levels.
  • Achieves and maintains 98% perfect order completion and delivery.
  • Promotes operational excellence throughout the plant.
  • Responds to emergency calls as required.
  • Responsible for Food Quality, Safety, and Legality.

EDUCATION:

  • Associate’s degree, required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of management experience in manufacturing.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in Plant Manager or equivalent role.
  • Should have experience working with bulk products, liquid fill, or other consumer packaging industries.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple sites.
  • Commitment to excellence and high standards. Commitment to company values and Operational Excellence.
  • Must possess the ability to work with all levels of employees in the organization.
  • Solid understanding of Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Maintenance, Transportation, Packaging, and Safety.
  • Must be well organized, results oriented, and have effective planning and problem-solving ability.
  • Must possess strong leadership and team building skills.
  • Demonstrate good judgment and sound reasoning skills.
  • Ability to delegate authority.
  • Must have a strong floor presence and be able to interact effectively with people at all levels in the company.
  • Must be computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics AX is desirable.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Physical aspects of the job as performed in an 8-hour workday.

  • Must be able to see, sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, reach, bend, twist, ascend/ descend.
  • Ability to pull, push, lift and carry up to 50 lbs., 50+ lbs. with assistance.
