THE ROLE
The Senior Strategist works with the client marketing leadership team to help position MFS as a leading global investment manager in the assigned area of responsibility. Drives strategic planning and program development in support of corporate, business and brand objectives. Works closely with MFS' distribution management teams to understand and translate business goals into multi-channel marketing strategies, to grow and retain assets, increase market share, and drive client experience.
The Marketing Senior Strategist builds strong relationships with other cross-functional distribution groups and leads with influence as a trusted marketing consultant. This role delivers regularly monitoring and reporting on key measures of success.
Partners with colleagues globally to deliver marketing campaigns, programs, and toolkits while ensuring consistent, integrated messaging. May be responsible for management and talent development of client marketing personnel. Practical and working knowledge in Marketing of ETF's (Exchange Traded Funds) are required to be considered for this role.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Business Intelligence
Mastery of industry, products, market segments, and competitive environment as well as MFS' corporate business, brand, and sales objectives.
Drive ongoing data mining and business analysis, marketing planning, and strategy development in support of channel objectives-leverage learning to inform plans and activities.
Consume and direct market research, using key insights to champion strategies and advance initiatives that generate positive results for the business.
Analyze results; compare to industry standards and identify opportunities for improvement. Engage business leaders, field force, investment staff, and compliance personnel in review of results to align on updated business objectives and product positioning and inform quarterly channel planning.
Strategic Marketing
Implement strategies across various media, platforms, and venues to drive brand awareness, impart value, and generate leads in a way that differentiates and distinguishes MFS.
Oversee execution of complex campaigns-providing clear, complete input up-front and proactively managing stakeholders to enable streamlined review cycles throughout the process.
Collaborate with colleagues across marketing centers of excellence to promote MFS' value proposition through the successful execution of a variety of project types.
Lead project teams to establish priorities and meet deadlines, motivating colleagues and navigating the sometimes-conflicting needs of clients and co-workers. Responsible for establishing, monitoring, and managing to approve budgets.
Participate in special projects and/or process improvement initiatives as requested by Global Marketing Management team.
Leadership
Partner with direct supervisor as well as management colleagues across Global Marketing to influence cross-functional team performance and operational efficiency.
May manage team of client marketing personnel, actively mentoring and adhering to performance management practices to enable contribution and ongoing development of direct reports. Includes decision making regarding employment, performance appraisals, and salary administration.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
8-12+ years of relevant experience in the asset management industry.
Strong knowledge of financial products, investment techniques and strategies, and FINRA and SEC regulations as well as investment industry and MFS investment disciplines and philosophy.
Demonstrated expertise mining for customer insights through interaction with Sales colleagues and others, primary and secondary research, and program results-leveraging data and key learning to drive channel marketing strategies and decision making to deliver meaningful results.
Facility to understand target audience segments, preferences, and buying patterns-applying best practices as well as coming up with new ways to connect with constituents in meaningful ways.
Creative thinker and innovator with proven ability to partner with creative and/or communications teams to develop sales and marketing support materials.
Organized team leader who operates with a high degree of independence, demonstrating attention to detail and ability to manage multiple complex programs simultaneously.
Ability to operate effectively under pressure-shifting priorities in response to changing business demands while maintaining oversight of day-to-day deliverables.
Exceptional interpersonal communication (written and verbal), presentation and influence skills; adept at building positive, collaborative relationships with a variety of internal stakeholders in sales, marketing and other functional areas at all levels
Customer-service focus, taking the lead in solving problems and arriving at solutions that advance individual performance and team effectiveness.
Willingness to travel, as needed, to engage target markets while attending financial services and marketing industry meetings.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
Depending on location position may require appropriate FINRA registrations (Series 6 or 7) in accordance with MFS's licensing policy.
