Bridgewater State University's School of Social Work offers the largest bachelor's in social work program in Massachusetts along with a popular master's in social work program - both of which are accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. With a curriculum grounded in service learning, BSU's social work programs offer intensive fieldwork and mentoring by our accomplished faculty. The BSU School of Social Work professional development program offers workshops, trainings, and lectures designed to support community practitioners.
Position Summary
The Social Work Program Coordinator provides exceptional support and customer service to students, faculty, and staff at the School of Social Work. The Program Coordinator supports the daily functions of the School of Social Work with an emphasis on effective communication, organization, record keeping and analysis, attention to detail, handling multiple projects, working independently and within a team, confidentiality, and thorough knowledge of the School of Social Work. The position provides student support and guidance; fielding questions and managing communication channels. The Program Coordinator will work with the Associate Dean and program chairs; administering BSW, MSW and professional development programs, as well as collaborating with faculty and staff to offer support to students and community partners.Essential Duties
Program Support & Scheduling- Assist with course scheduling for the Saturday MSW program, evening BSW program, and additional program options as assigned.
- Host virtual office hours for Saturday and evening students.
- Maintain required documentation, including assessment data.
- Analyse and report data related to grant and scholarship funding.
- Schedule and attend information sessions in partnership with faculty.
- Assist with the identification and engagement of presenters for the professional development program. Handle professional development program logistics as required.
- Assist program chairs in the hiring of of part-time faculty, including recruitment, application support, and logistics.
- Support the pool of qualified adjunct faculty through communication about teaching opportunities and an understanding of part-time faculty areas of expertise and availability.
- Provide onboarding for new part-time faculty and connect them with course leads.
- Ensure all required HR documentation for new and continuing part-time faculty is accurate and up to date.
- Providing supplemental advising.
- Collaborate with Transfer Services to assist social work transfer students by providing supplemental advising .
- When requested by a program chair, provide support to chairs for summer and winter intersession advising.
- Design and offer trainings for students that support their appropriate use of academic advising and academic support resources.
- Respond to inquiries related to the Saturday MSW and evening BSW programs and to all programmatic inquiries during the summer, engaging program chairs, the department chair, or associate dean, as needed.
- Assist with student needs and triage to advisors or chairs.
- Manage the logistics of MSW admissions. Work with the College of Graduate Studies admissions staff to provide data and administrative assistance related to the social work application and admissions processes. When requested by a program chair, serve as an application reviewer.
- Manage the logistics of BSW admissions.

- MSW degree
- Related experience to fulfill the position responsibilities.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with faculty, staff, and students.
- Culturally responsive, student-centered, and equity-minded approaches to supporting diverse constituents.
- Ability to interpret and present data.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in social work education
- Knowledge of learning management systems, and university administrative platforms, or the equivalent.
