Supervisor Environmental Services; Full-time, Kula Hospital
Job Description
Oversees activities and staff of environmental services, linen/laundry, and supply delivery departments. Supports hospital and/or peripheral clinics and facilities on maintenance and/or housekeeping and environmental services related issues. Supervises assigned staff.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Monitors, maintains, and controls inventory of supplies and equipment. Creates requisitions for new and replacement supplies. Evaluates new supplies and equipment and recommends products based on technological improvements, upgrade methodology, and/or cost-effectiveness.
- Assists in budget preparation. Promotes effective use of resources.
- Prepares, reviews, and monitors daily and weekly assignment schedules to ensure adequate coverage. Ensures adequate and timely services are provided.
- Inspects assigned area regularly. Determines and ensures instructions are properly followed and safety rules observed. As appropriate, ensures infection control and safety policies and procedures are followed. Inspects hospital and clinic premises and equipment.
- Inspects and evaluates equipment and furnishings for unusual and/or unsafe conditions. Initiates work order requisitions for maintenance as needed.
- Instructs personnel in use of new equipment. Provides efficient and effective methods for maintaining medical center and clinics.
- Gathers, compiles, and records data and information for routine or special reports. Maintains employee records.
- Participates in and contributes to programs, committees, or projects designed to improve quality of service and employee productivity.
- As appropriate, monitors and maintains policies and procedures on bio-hazardous waste and destruction of confidential records.
- Hires, trains, supervises, counsels, disciplines, and terminates assigned staff as appropriate.
- Communicates goals, objectives, accountabilities, priorities, and authority parameters to assigned staff.
Basic Qualifications: Experience
- Minimum two (2) years environmental services, care delivery, clinic support or business processes experience as related to area of responsibility.
- Bachelors degree in business administration or related field; or four (4) years experience in a directly related field.
- Driver's License (from any state) required at hire
- Demonstrated knowledge of infection control, safety, and security regulations in a healthcare setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in decision making, customer service, oral communication, problem solving, quality management, results orientation, systems thinking, team building, teamwork, and written communication.
- Supervisory/lead or project management experience.
- Teaching and conducting in-services experience.
