Job Summary

The Supervisor of Warranty Services will supervise and administer vehicle warranty programs and projects related to revenue vehicles, ensuring contract compliance and the availability of heavy rail and bus vehicles. The Supervisor of Warranty Service swill also oversee all efforts to maximize financial recovery from component core exchange programs and MBTA asset scrapping for Vehicle Maintenance.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage programs and projects pertaining to vehicle warranty repair and vendor-approved mandates. 
  • Manage program and projects related to revenue vehicles to ensure the availability of heavy rail and bus vehicles. 
  • Maintain a working relationship between vendor service and engineering personnel, interfacing with MBTA managers responsible for Rail and Bus Maintenance Operations. 
  • Assume the duties of Superintendent as needed. 
  • Develop reports to track and evaluate vehicle repair data. 
  • Analyze repair data for failure trends and schedule compliance. 
  • Assist in preparing contractual language and specifications as it relates to warranty issues and special projects. 
  • Ensure car house and bus garage warranty claims are properly recorded and failures sufficiently defined for appropriate action.
  • Ensure warranty claims are submitted to vendors utilizing respective vendor procedures. 
  • Ensure the vendors have paid warranty claims. 
  • Develop procedures when required to ensure that special project repairs, updates, etc. are being conducted properly and in a timely manner. 
  • Interact with various computer software programs to ensure proper documentation of projects and warranty work. 
  • Oversee the development and implementation of special projects as they relate to vehicles.
  • Coordinate with engineering, materials, outside vendors, and supervisory personnel to ensure that projects are completed on schedule. 
  • Ensure budgetary goals are met and that all work is performed in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Attend vendor-sponsored seminars related to new products and revenue vehicle technical updates. 
  • Resolve issues of workforce, space, and level of repair to revenue vehicles. 
  • Interact with vendor field service representatives to ensure proper compliance with factory updates and changes. 
  • Act as the Authority's representative on all matters relating to vendor warranties. 
  • Respond to each inquiry, whether from a customer, vendor, or co-worker in a courteous and professional manner. 
  • Work any and all shifts assigned by the Superintendent. 
  • Drive a company or personal vehicle to visit work sites, assist at emergencies and events, and/or transport crews or equipment as needed

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) from an accredited institution.
  • Three (3) years of experience in transportation equipment warranty management. 
  • Effective organizational and analytical skills. 
  • Ability to use Word, Excel, Database, PeopleSoft,or Mainframe applications. 
  • Ability to provide internal and external customers with a courteous and professional experience. 
  • Possess excellent customer service and conflict resolution skills 
  • Ability to work any and all shifts and/or locations as assigned or directed. 
  • Be available to work twenty-four(24) hours per day, seven (7) days per week. 
  • Ability to supervise and work effectively with a diverse workforce.

  • Be at least eighteen (18) years of age, except if participating in an approved high school internship / co-op program.
