PURPOSE:

This role supports the Underwriting teams rating system by assisting in the definition, design, and development of system requirements. The Systems Engineer Associate helps coordinate subsystem design and system integration, resolves program support issues, and contributes to the development, testing, and documentation of application programs. The position works closely with stakeholders to gather requirements, define project scope, and troubleshoot technical issues, ensuring alignment with established project standards and processes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Troubleshoot and maintain computer systems related to supported applications, ensuring optimal performance for end users.
  • Perform software analysis, including requirements gathering, use case development, and system design.
  • Follow change management protocols to maintain data integrity in production environments.
  • Develop migration packages to automate application installation and configuration across development, test, and production environments.
  • Collaborate with team members to identify process improvement opportunities.
  • Document system design and application code.
  • Gather, interpret, and document technical and functional user requirements.
  • Conduct application testing, including unit tests and structured test cases for end users.
  • Implement techniques to prevent system issues, troubleshoot incidents, and support root cause analysis.
  • Evaluate new or upgraded systems through in-depth testing and end-user feedback.
  • Research software and related products to inform recommendations and purchasing decisions.
  • Identify systems integration issues through performance testing and analysis of user input and project requirements.
  • Develop system automation and integrate business processes.
  • Enhance engineering knowledge through workshops, training, professional publications, and networking.
  • Participate in regular team meetings and peer reviews of development tasks and defect corrections.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education Level:  Bachelors Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science OR in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Data analysis and report writing skills.
  • Familiarity with writing test case.
  • Self-starter with a proactive mindset and eagerness to grow.
  • Strong critical thinking and a willingness to tackle challenges.
  • Naturally curious with a problem-solving attitude.
  • Familiarity with system engineering tools.
  • Knowledge of programming languages and web technologies (e.g., JavaScript, XML, .NET Framework, Python).
  • Proficiency in Power BI and Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
  • Exposure to database technologies (e.g., SQL, Oracle, MongoDB, MySQL, cloud platforms).
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across technical teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Commitment to meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality customer service.

Salary Range: $65,088 - $129,272
