Job Description
The position will report to the Senior Department Manager who oversees Systems Engineers supporting Targets and Interceptor programs, Digital Engineering, and Business Development, supporting all LV programs. This role will manage a high performing team focused on the Space Based Interceptor program, providing technical, administrative, and management expertise in the day-to-day activities required to successfully execute the programs.
Essential Functions (additional responsibilities may be assigned outside of this list):
• Provide direct Systems Engineering support to program(s):
• Majority of the managers' time will be in direct development and support of program work.
• Support program meetings and other direct charging as required, to provide technical oversight and team management.
• Prepare the SEIT team for customer meetings and key presentations.
• Represent the SEIT department in key program meetings, verifying that the approach abides by department standards and expectations.
Technical Oversight / Leadership
• Provide technical oversight by reviewing key SEIT products, analyses and models for compliance with department standards, good engineering practice and compliance with customer requirements and expectations.
• Provide technical leadership and resource management to ensure timely resolution of issues impacting launch vehicle design and verification.
• Help resolve complex technical issues related to core systems engineering and/or specialty systems engineering, including any required failure analysis, independent design reviews, and corrective actions.
• Prepare periodic technical reports and presentations for senior management to document the current program and/or technical status, corrective action (if required) and go forward plans.
Functional management of approximately 10-15 systems engineers:
• Writing and conducting quarterly connection notes/meetings for direct reports.
• Provide timely feedback and functional direction to direct reports.
• Assess and communicate staffing needs monthly.
• Support management of department metrics.
• Support maintenance of Department processes, standards and command media.
• Ensure employee training - inclusive of systems, program, and enterprise training.
• Onboarding New Hires.
• Mentoring engineers both formally and informally.
• Timesheet approval.
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 8 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master's degree in STEM with 6 years of related engineering experience, or a PhD in STEM with 4 years of experience
• Have or ability to obtain a US DoD Secret Security Clearance.
• U.S. Citizenship.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated leadership experience.
• Aerospace experience.
• Ability to travel.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with functional management of an engineering team.
• Program execution experience.
• A strong experienced-based and academic foundation in Systems Engineering fundamentals.
• Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience.
• Multi-Disciplinary Analysis and Optimization (MDAO) experience.
• Experience with Earned Value Management System and managing a Cost Account.
• Familiarity with Agile engineering and Jira.
Primary Level Salary Range: $135,100.00 - $202,700.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
