Position: Telecom Project Manager

Location: Remote

12 Month Contract w/ Extension

Position Overview

Responsible for coordinating, scheduling, and delivering internally initiated cost-saving initiatives, with minimal supervision. The Project Manager will interface with internal Test, Grooms, Operations, Planning, and Deployment teams to ensure project entrance and exit criteria are met, drive prioritization of projects, and ensure efficient resource utilization while forecasting savings. This role requires strong experience in telecom backbone networks (core infrastructure) rather than customer circuits, with the ability to proactively identify risks related to scope, resource constraints, and process breakdowns, and work cross-functionally to resolve them.

Essential Duties

  • Coordinate projects focused on consolidating or exiting backbone network assets such as cabinets, cages, full sites, and leased fibers.
  • Understand and communicate project scope, ensuring program milestones and objectives are met.
  • Organize cross-functional activities to complete projects within budget constraints.
  • Plan and manage resources to execute project components from handoff through implementation.
  • Provide reporting and metrics from multiple systems and databases.
  • Apply technical knowledge of backbone network technologies to research, plan, and achieve objectives.
  • Identify and resolve project issues through plan adjustments or escalation.

Basic Qualifications

  • Previous technical experience in telecom backbone networks highly desired, especially in SONET, DWDM, and/or IP.
  • PMP Certification a plus, but not required.

Preferred Education, Skills, and Experience

  • Experience: 5+ years in telecom network projects, with emphasis on backbone infrastructure.
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Telecom or Project Management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project).
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience as a technician or engineer in backbone networks, along with data analysis and forecasting.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, assess risk, and implement mitigation strategies.
