Job Summary:
The Supervisor, Telecom position for Field Operations, Georgia Southwest within the Field Operations East & National department will have overall responsibility for approximately (8) Telecom Technicians and (1) Telecom Analyst geographically dispersed throughout the southwest territory of GA.
The Field Operations (FO) southwest territory of GA consists of the following border counties and all areas contained within the perimeter of these counties: (clockwise) Troup, Meriweather, Pike, Lamar, Monroe, Jasper, Putnam, Baldwin, Wilkinson, Laurens, Dodge, Wilcox, Ben Hill, Irwin, Berrien, Lanier, Echols, Lowndes, Brooks, Thomas, Grady, Decatur, Seminole, Early, Clay, Quitman, Stewart, Chattahoochee, Muscogee, and Harris.
The Supervisor provides leadership and influence through active participation in Field Operations activities and leverages business, technical, and consulting resources from across the organization (strategy, engineering, and operations) to ensure the timely delivery of effective business solutions.
FO provides hands-on installation, maintenance, break-fix, and project support for Southern Company's voice, data, and telecommunications transport networks while also assisting various infrastructure groups with initiatives as needed in support of a broad infrastructure asset catalog and diverse Southern Company customer base.
Education Requirements & Preferences:
- Two-year degree in a business or technology-related field, or equivalent military training is required.
- Preference will be given to candidates with a four-year degree or nearing completion of a four-year degree program in a business or technology-related field.
- Candidates with a minimum of two years of formal people leadership experience within a business or technology related field will be considered in lieu of education requirements.
Experience Requirements & Preferences:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a technology-related field is required.
- Preference will be given to candidates who have telecommunications, field operations, or similar experience.

Work Location & Hours:
- This position will be performed within a hybrid environment including working from a vehicle’s mobile office, on-site company facility, or elsewhere as needed. Reporting to a specific office location each day is not expected or required; however, frequent face-to-face engagement with employees in various locations throughout the southwest territory of GA is required and frequent travel is expected.
- The successful candidate will be required to attend team, vendor, or business partner meetings, training, or other on-site events (within and outside of territory) and must be willing to attend in person.
- A company vehicle will be provided.
- The successful candidate must reside anywhere within the FO GA SW territory previously defined in the job description. Candidates who do not wish to relocate but reside in GA within 30 road miles of the territory’s border will also be considered.
- Relocation assistance is offered with this position.
- This position is an exempt/salaried position. Typical workdays and hours are Monday – Friday, daytime hours (i.e. 7AM – 4PM, 8AM – 5PM) with flexibility. There will be occasional after-hours and/or weekend engagement in support of employees and initiatives, and during storms, critical events, etc.
This position has been identified as a role that will require the use of a Georgia Power fleet vehicle. The following will be required if you are selected for this position:
- Must have at least one year of verifiable driving experience (Must hold a valid driver’s license for the class vehicle to be operated. Driving permits are not typically considered a valid driver’s license).
- Must have no revocation of driving privileges within the 36 months prior to application, no convictions of major traffic violations (DUI, hit and run, reckless driving, etc.) within the 12 months prior to application, or any pending charges for a major traffic violation at the time of application.
- Must consent to a continuous monitoring of your Motor Vehicle Record
