Berklee seeks a Workday Functional Analyst (WFA) for a temporary full-time opportunity, supporting a 3-year initiative to implement Workday Student. This position will play an important role on the project implementation team, working closely with the Workday platform owner, functional and technical leads, project managers and other functional/business analysts to ensure that business needs are understood, solutions identified and/or designed, and business processes are designed, documented, and tested. The WFA translates business requirements into business solutions utilizing Workday and other enterprise application system functionality.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Workday Strategy and Operations, the WFA will collaborate with business and technology teams as we seek to transform the enterprise systems used by the Institution to support music and performing arts education in an expanding portfolio of programs offered online and on our campuses in the United States and Europe.

Job Purpose:

The Workday Functional Analyst (WFA) functions as lead analyst or key project team member on assigned workstreams for the Workday Student implementation project and will interact with various multi-functional teams to define, document, and test business processes, requirements, and configurations. They will be very detail-oriented, self-motivated, results oriented, and an excellent communicator. This role requires analysis of sophisticated business problems to be solved with configuration solutions. Our roles are fast-paced and focus on analyzing challenging problems and coming up with solutions to a variety of complex business requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates requirements gathering and design/configuration activities.

  • Defines, documents, and maintains business processes requirements, and policies.

  • Prototype solutions, fixes as needed

  • Performs data validation of converted data and systems configuration.

  • Develops and executes quality assurance, systems testing, and end user acceptance activities including verification test plans and test scenarios. Facilitates end user testing sessions.

  • Perform analysis on data points associated with assigned functional areas.

  • Participates in technical design sessions, ensuring that the business requirements and objectives are articulated and addressed by the designed solutions.

  • Supports data mapping for data conversion and integration requirement gathering.

  • Supports the workset builds and cutover planning activities

  • Triage failed testing or data validation scenarios

  • Collaborates with the Organizational Change & Training (OC&T) team to create documentation and training for end users on new or changed business processes. May facilitate or deliver training with the OC&T team.

  • Supports identified action items, and delivery plans.

  • Identifies opportunities for business process improvements and makes recommendations as appropriate.

  • Adheres to established Berklee, Workday and implementation partner’s Workday project implementation methodology, tools and processes.

  • Adheres to and promotes Berklee’s Vision and Guiding Principles.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree and relevant business analysis and/or business analyst training and experience required.

  • CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional) certification a plus, but not required

  • 3+ years experience or exposure to higher education student administrative operations required (e.g. registrar operations, admissions/recruiting, academic program/curriculum administration, academic advising, student accounts, financial aid, etc)

  • Functional Workday platform experience and/or Workday implementation experience required (Workday Student a plus)

  • Experience with other administrative business applications (i.e. ERP, CRM: Colleague, PowerCampus, Salesforce, etc) and/or third-party administrative systems supporting the student experience preferred.

  • Strong understanding of data integration between systems and/or experience working with IT.

  • Knowledge and applied use of a range of elicitation techniques to elicit business and system requirements

  • Knowledge and applied use of a range of workflow/documentation techniques (e.g. Swim lane diagrams), and the flexibility to apply the best method to the needs of each assignment/project

  • Knowledge of and experience with both waterfall and agile methodologies

  • Experience with Google Workspace/G Suite productivity apps (e.g. Drive, Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, etc) and Smartsheet preferred

  • Ability to understand complex business processes, and to effectively articulate the information to others through visuals/diagrams or other requirements documentation

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both verbal and written formats as well as to create and maintain positive, productive working relationships with both technical and non-technical personnel.

  • Ability to operate independently and set priorities amongst multiple task assignments.

  • Excellent analytical skills

  • Intellectually curious; loves a good challenge

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, assignments, and projects. Self motivated and highly engaged.

  • Attention to detail

  • Proven ability to work effectively in a highly diverse campus community

  • Demonstrated capacity to develop & maintain effective working relationships with individuals & organizations reflecting a broad range of identities, perspectives & experiences.

  • Hybrid; remote work is possible for this position.
