As a Cybersecurity Engineer focused on Database Monitoring, you will be responsible for configuring and implementing robust database monitoring solutions to protect sensitive data across our organization. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that database monitoring strategies align with business objectives and regulatory requirements. This role requires a deep understanding of database monitoring and best practices for data security.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.

  • Develop and maintain database monitoring strategies and policies to safeguard sensitive data.
  • Design, implement, enhance, maintain, and test database monitoring solutions for various systems and applications used throughout the enterprise.
  • Provide a new perspective on existing solutions, participate in the resolution of complex problems and exercise judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.
  • Ensure that database monitoring solutions comply with relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Participate in risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to address database monitoring related risks.
  • Provide expertise in database monitoring related incident response and forensic investigations, assisting in identifying root causes and implementing remediation measures.
  • Participate in cybersecurity projects with manageable risks and resource requirements; play a role in larger, more complex initiatives.
  • Conduct training sessions and awareness programs to educate employees on database monitoring best practices and promote a culture of security awareness.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Bachelor’s degree and five years of experience in systems engineering or administration or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • In-depth knowledge in applied enterprise information security technologies including but not limited to firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, network operating systems, identity management, database activity monitoring, encryption, content filtering, and Mainframe security
  • Previous experience in planning and managing IT projects

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field preferred
  • 8 or more years of experience or an equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
  • 5 or more years of experience in in designing and implementing database monitoring solutions in enterprise environments.
  • Experience using the Vormetric and Guardium applications for database monitoring and activity monitoring.
  • Experience with banking or financial services.
  • Strong understanding of relevant regulations and compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST, FIPS, ISO/IEC, PCI DSS).
  • Information Security certification, such as CISSP, CCNA Security, GSEC, GCED, GPPA, etc., preferred
