Please review the following job description:

Provide leadership and direction in credit approval and risk management for the Bank's Home Equity Product Delivery team responsible for underwriting and decisioning consumer applications, for Retail and Premier clients. Ensure team's balance of responsiveness to Branch teammates, driving revenue and delivering superior credit review performance that supports the Bank's risk appetite and maximizes portfolio quality and profitability.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.

1. Ensure balanced execution of credit decisioning and risk management processes, maximizing quality and profitable loan growth for the Bank, within established service level agreement timeframes.

2. Provide underwriting and decisioning support for Underwriters on large, complex, credit requests outside their established lending authority.

3. Manage and lead Underwriters. Coach, train and mentor teammates to encourage growth and development. Cultivate an environment of independent thinking and empowered teammates in order to develop critical skill sets for granting credit decisions that are based on both, a complete understanding of the client's financial position and the Bank's defined risk management policies.

4. Recommend changes to policy and processes, as appropriate. Ensure underwriting policies and guidelines are being applied and exceptions to credit policies are clearly documented, justified and within the Bank's risk tolerance threshold.

5. Serve as liaison for Retail Community Bank leadership regarding underwriting performance, lending process execution and portfolio management strategies. Manage and perform second level reviews for Premier and Regional leaders to ensure all viable loan requests are given an appropriate level of consideration.

6. Participate in RCB Regional and Premier team meetings, in-person or virtually. Build and sustain strong partnerships with all RCB leaders and teammates by providing guidance and support, as appropriate.

7. Evaluate Underwriter performance and staffing levels to ensure optimal efficiency and productivity is achieved without compromising risk management/risk framework standards.

8. Participate in consumer lending audits and compliance reviews and examinations.

9. Instill the Truist mission, vision, values and credit culture within the Underwriting team.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

1. Bachelor's degree in business-related field or comparable education or related training

2. 10+ years of large bank experience with strong emphasis in loan administration and credit risk management.

3. Strong credit and analytical skills with experience in evaluating complex personal and business tax returns, cash flow analysis, trust agreements and other legal documentation utilized in complex lending situations

4. Ability to successfully interact, negotiate and communicate within all levels of the Bank

5. Strong leadership and management skills

6. Strong Verbal and written communication skills

7. Must be SAFE (Mortgage Licensing Act) compliant within 30 days of employment in this role, including new or transfer of registration and applicable NMLS background check which includes meeting applicable financial responsibility, character, credit fitness and criminal background standards. Successful candidates must also meet ongoing regulatory requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Master's degree in business-related field and/or graduate of outside banking management school

2. Retail and commercial lending experience

3. Experience in technology based, multi-project work environment

4. Experience and training in public speaking and group facilitation

5. Knowledge of bank operations/systems, compliance/regulatory issues
