Job Summary
The newly established research lab of physician-scientist Dr. Ameer Elaimy in the Department of Radiation Oncology, University of Michigan, is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to explore the tumor microenvironment, cancer stem cells, metabolism and experimental therapeutics in liver cancer.
Qualified applicants will have experience in cellular and molecular biology. Experience in mouse modeling in cancer and flow cytometry is also highly desired. The Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Michigan has pioneered preclinical radiosensitization strategies that have directly translated to clinical trials for over 35 years, which was recently ranked No. 6 in the nation. Our very close integration of biology and clinical treatment facilitates the ongoing development of new therapeutic strategies in combination with radiation and their translation to clinical trials.

Responsibilities*
You will stand at the forefront of translational research in liver cancer. You will lead your own interdisciplinary project within a diverse team of experimental and computational biologists. You will have a shared responsibility for fostering a positive, collaborative working culture within our group.
Required Qualifications*
- Ph.D. in the biomedical sciences, or related discipline
- Independent work ethic and readiness to work at the interface of disciplines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Desired Qualifications*
- Experience in molecular and cell biology
- Experience in Crispr/Cas9 gene editing
- Experience in mouse modeling in cancer
- Experience in flow cytometry
- Experience in bioinformatics
Modes of Work
Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.
Additional Information
This is appointment has an initial term of 1-year, with the possibility for an extension provided performance and funding allow.
