We’re looking for an experienced AWS Cloud Engineer to join our Cloud Operations team. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud infrastructure on Amazon Web Services in support of our data science, machine learning, and software development teams. You’ll also collaborate with other stakeholders to ensure the security, reliability, and scalability of our AWS cloud environment.

How you’ll help:

  • Cloud infrastructure management. Design, deploy, and manage AWS cloud infrastructure to meet our growing organization’s business requirements. Monitor cloud resources and optimize for performance, cost, and security.
  • Operations and automation. Build and maintain OpenTofu infrastructure-as-code (IaC) for AWS resources. Automated infrastructure provisioning and deployment processes using tools such as Terragrunt and Bitbucket pipelines. Implement monitoring and alerting solutions. Develop scripts and tools for operational efficiency using Python and Bash.
  • Security and compliance. Implement security best practices in accordance with industry standards such as SOC 2, CIS, and organizational policies. Triage security alerts and remediate security vulnerabilities.
  • Collaboration and support. Provide support for, and timely resolution of, user issues related to cloud services. Support production and technical troubleshooting. Document processes, procedures, and architectural decisions. Collaborate with cross-functional executive, data science, and software engineering teams to understand technical needs and provide strategic solutions using the portfolio of available AWS services.

What will make you a great fit:

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience working with AWS services and tools.
  • 2+ years of experience in an AWS cloud engineering role.
  • Proficiency with core AWS services: EC2, VPC, S3, Lambda, CloudFormation, IAM, Route53, KMS.
  • Proficiency with AWS security and management tools: Control Tower, Security Hub, CloudTrail, Config, Inspector, GuardDuty.
  • Experience managing infrastructure with Terraform/OpenTofu and, optionally, Terragrunt.
  • Experience with Linux administration and shell scripting.
  • Proficiency in scripting using Python.
  • Experience with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD practices.
  • Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, ECS, EKS). Kubernetes administration experience preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Continuous learning mindset to stay current with cloud technologies.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to support the needs and requests of our data science and engineering teams.
  • AWS certifications preferred: Solutions Architect or DevOps Engineer.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field preferred.

This role will be 100% remote, with infrequent travel (generally 1–2 times per year).
