Northrop Grumman's Space Sector is seeking a Engineering Technician - Level 2 to join our team in Promontory, UT.     
The candidate will be responsible for preparing, testing and evaluating a wide variety of adhesives to support laboratory testing and quality assurance processes. This role plays a critical part in ensuring material integrity, regulatory compliance, and accurate test results. 
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Collect representative samples in accordance with engineering, regulatory, and laboratory requirements.

• Verify material identification and ensure traceability during the fabrication and testing process and ensure all materials are properly labeled and stored following engineering and planning requirements.

• Communicate any inconsistencies, deviations, or safety concerns to appropriate personnel.

• Adhere to safety and hygiene standards, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

• Maintain laboratory infrastructure including sample preparation and equipment set-ups and breakdown. Candidate will be expected to maintain a high standard of operational discipline to support clean, safe, and efficient operations.

• Work with LIMS, Quality, and inventory databases to track material and test results.

Basic Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years additional education and/or related experience.  Will consider an additional 4+ years of experience in lieu of degree.


• No clearance required to start


• Familiarity with MSDS/SDS and hazardous material handling procedures.

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.

• Comfortable working in environments that may involve exposure to chemicals, noise, and temperature variations.

• Use of PPE including gloves, safety glasses, lab smocks, and ESD safety shoes is required.

• Basic computer and software competencies are required.

• Flexibility to occasionally work swing shifts and weekends when required.

 Preferred Qualifications:  

• Experience in a laboratory, manufacturing, or warehouse environment, especially with chemical handling, is highly desirable.

• 2+ years of hands-on experience with adhesives in engineering, manufacturing, or lab setting.

• Strong understanding of adhesive chemistry and bonding principles.

• Knowledge of surface preparation, application techniques, cure cycles, and post-processing.

• Mechanical testing knowledge (e.g., tensile, shear and peel strength).

• Familiarity with ASTM methods related to adhesive performance.

• Experience with handling and disposal of energetic materials
