Job Description
ATC West Healthcare Services is seeking a Locum Gastroenterologist to provide hospital-based call coverage due to a coverage gap. This role includes inpatient consults and outpatient gastroenterology/internal medicine responsibilities in a non-trauma hospital setting, with a strong focus on endoscopic procedures.
Dates / ScheduleCoverage is structured in weeklong and weekend call blocks, typically 24-hour call starting at 7:00 a.m.

Job Details & ResponsibilitiesHospital call based gastroenterology coverage
Adult patient population
Clinical settings include hospital and outpatient/clinic
No trauma designation
Onsite lab and X-ray services
Outpatient Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine required
EMR: Epic
Average volume: 8 procedures per week across GI, hepatology, surgery, colonoscopy, EGD, and ERCP
Required Procedures Include:
Upper and lower GI endoscopy (diagnostic and therapeutic)
Colonoscopy and sigmoidoscopy
ERCP
EUS (preferred)
Liver and small bowel biopsy
Esophageal dilation and manometry (including interpretation)
PEG placement
Variceal management (banding, injection)
Foreign body removal
Sengstaken/Blakemore tube management
Board Certified in Gastroenterology (required)
Active Virginia medical license (required)
ERCP experience (required)
EUS experience (preferred)
Must be available to cover at least one open shift
Clean malpractice history (required for temporary privileges)
Flu vaccine (required)
COVID vaccine (highly preferred)
NPDB Self-Query report dated within 30 days at time of presentation (required)
