Groundskeeper- Part Time (Parks & Municipal Grounds)
Job Description
The City Grounds Maintenance team promotes and improves the appearance and safety of the City's outdoor areas including parks, recreation and municipal facilities, campground, open space, and various other outdoor sites within the City. This position will primarily assist with Northwest River Park facility grounds maintenance operations, in addition to supporting city-wide special event logistics .
Overall primary tasks include but are not limited to:
- Provides exceptional internal and external customer service to a diverse population; responds to requests for services and inquires, as directed by supervisor that meets the expectations of the City's Customer Service and CARES Initiative.
- Operates various lawn and garden equipment, tractor, City vehicles, common hand and power tools associated with grounds keeping, housekeeping, landscaping and building maintenance. Operate tractor with attachments, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, climb, bend, stoop move furniture in buildings and shelters.
- Maintains landscaping, grounds, sidewalks, fixtures, fences, playgrounds, shorelines, and parking lots surrounding all City facilities.
- Performs responsible skilled and semi-skilled work in repair, maintenance and care of grounds, trails, trees, equipment, irrigation systems, recreation facilities and structures. Performs specific tasks at the direction of the Supervisor. Performs carpentry work on shelters, roofs, benches, signs, recreational equipment, fences and posts.
- Performs various grounds maintenance such as mowing, trimming of turf, landscaping, and landscape bed maintenance, pruning trees and shrubs, weeding, fertilizing, aeration, removing dead vegetation, edging, mulching, and painting park amenities.
- Provides logistical support for City sponsored functions and special events; set-up and breakdown tents, fencing, barricades, and other various recreational and sound equipment, perform post event activities such as clean-up and trash removal.
- Deposes of trash and debris from all municipal and Parks grounds and fields. Custodial duties to include cleaning bathrooms, floors, etc. as well as stocking with supplies.
- Monitors and inspects areas for safety hazards and repairs; reports any deficiencies. Performs routine safety inspections on equipment, park amenities, vehicles and trailers; promptly reports damages, safety concerns and malfunctions to supervisor.
- Submits work order request, maintains related forms and records. Assists with completing and maintaining various routine forms and documents.
