Security Specialist   Program: Safety & Security Reports to: VP of Facilities and Security Hours and location: Full-time, exempt position             1 Security specialist Moon campus Mon-Fri (2-10pm)             1 Security specialist Emsworth Campus Mon-Fri (10pm-6am)    General Statement of Duties: This role focuses on ensuring the safety and security of Holy Family Institute's campus while upholding its mission and professional standards. The Security Specialist provides monitoring through patrols, surveillance systems, and visitor oversight to protect unaccompanied children and staff. Responsibilities include documenting incidents, conducting routine safety rounds, maintaining fire safety equipment, responding to alarms and emergencies, and addressing potential hazards. The position also involves managing access control systems, securing facilities, and supporting communication systems.   KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintain a safe and secure campus environment through continuous monitoring, patrols, visitor oversight, video surveillance, and facility inspections.
  • Protect the safety and well-being of Unaccompanied Children and respond to emergencies, alarms, and security incidents.
  • Document incidents, complete reports, conduct fire drills, and ensure compliance with agency policies and procedures.
  • Inspect and support fire safety, access control, surveillance, and communication systems.
  • Identify and address safety hazards, coordinate corrective actions, and secure facilities by monitoring locks and building access.
  • Foster positive professional relationships with staff, volunteers, contractors, and community partners while representing the agency professionally.
  • Participate in required meetings, trainings, and flexible scheduling needs.
  • Adhere to all agency reporting, background disclosure, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participates in all required agency and regulatory trainings within expected time frames.
  • Promptly reports civil or criminal convictions, charges, arrests, investigations, or adjudications that may arise since staff member's last background investigation. This includes but is not limited to sexual abuse in a prison, jail, holding facility, community confinement facility, juvenile facility, other institution (as defined in 42 U.S.C. 1997), or care provider facility; conviction of engaging or attempting to engage in sexual activity facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse; or who was civilly or administratively adjudicated to have engaged in such activity.
  • Completes other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED with 2-5 years of experience in security, safety, or human services.
  • Ability to obtain required security certifications, Act 33/34 clearances, and FBI background checks.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Valid Pennsylvania driver's license and ability to operate a car or van.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Reliable attendance and ability to meet all essential job functions and regulatory requirements.
  • Physically capable of crisis response, including restraining children when necessary, lifting up to 20 lbs independently (50 lbs with assistance), climbing stairs, and extensive walking.
  • Ability to remain alert throughout shifts and effectively de-escalate crisis situations involving children.
