Position Summary

The Vice President of IT Quality Assurance is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the IT Quality Assurance department, aligning it with the company's IT strategy and business goals. They develop and maintain high standards for software quality assurance, establish processes and methodologies to ensure consistent outcomes, and lead a team of quality assurance professionals. Collaboration with other IT leaders is key to integrating quality assurance processes with development and deployment workflows.

The role involves driving innovation and automation in quality assurance practices, identifying potential risks, defining performance metrics, engaging with stakeholders, managing the budget, and ensuring regulatory compliance. The Vice President of IT Quality Assurance must have a strong, experienced QA background, relevant certifications, extensive industry experience, leadership experience, technical expertise, analytical skills, and excellent communication skills. They must also possess project management knowledge, risk management experience, regulatory knowledge, a strategic mindset, a customer-centric approach, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Compensation

This role is an exempt position with a Targeted Salary Range of $163,000 - $240,000 annually.

Compensation at Guild is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to local and federal minimum wage requirements, education, level of experience, and applicant’s geographical location.

Essential Functions

  • Establish/Define and communicate a clear vision for the IT Quality Assurance department that aligns with the broader IT and organizational objectives.
  • Develop and maintain high standards for software quality assurance, including the establishment of processes to ensure consistent, high-quality outcomes.
  • Implement and maintain robust quality frameworks and methodologies to drive quality assurance processes.
  • Oversee the adoption and the implementation of the latest quality assurance technologies and automation tools to enhance testing efficiency and accuracy.
  • Drive innovation in quality assurance practices by staying abreast of industry trends and incorporating new technologies and approaches to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensure substantial suites of regression test scripts are built to reduce repeat effort and integrate automated testing into continuous delivery processes.
  • Analyze performance data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement in software quality and team performance.
  • Develop and enforce quality assurance policies to ensure that all IT products and services meet the required standards before release.
  • Ensure commitments to lead, mentor, and develop a team of quality assurance professionals and associated management, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
  • Manage relationships with vendors and third-party service providers to ensure their services and products meet the company's quality standards and are delivered at an efficient cost.
  • Design and implement training programs to ensure that quality assurance team members have the necessary skills and knowledge.
  • Oversee incident and defect management processes to ensure timely resolution and minimize impact on users.
  • Provide regular reports to senior management on the status, challenges, achievements, and effectiveness of the IT Quality Assurance department.
  • Engage and collaborate with stakeholders, including top collaborators and senior management, to understand their needs and ensure the delivery of high-quality IT solutions to improve stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Ensure that all quality assurance activities comply with relevant industry regulations and standards, minimizing the risk of non-compliance penalties.
  • Work closely with other IT leaders to ensure seamless integration of quality assurance processes with development and deployment workflows to ensure that QA processes are not a blocker to timely delivery.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including development, operations, and support, to integrate quality assurance into all phases of the IT lifecycle.
  • Identify potential risks in IT projects related to software quality and develop mitigation strategies to prevent issues before they impact the business.
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of quality assurance efforts, measure the success of quality assurance initiatives, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Manage the budget for the IT Quality Assurance department, ensuring optimal allocation of resources to meet quality objectives and departmental goals.
  • Act as an advocate for quality within the organization, promoting the importance of quality assurance across all IT initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, information technology, or related field to the position or equivalent, required.
  • Minimum fifteen years' experience in IT quality assurance, with a proven track record of implementing successful quality programs.
  • Over ten years of combined experience in software engineering, IT Quality Assurance, and DevOps.
  • Over ten years of experience in collaboration with overall IT disciplines: software engineering, DevOps/IT Ops, information security, and governance.
  • Over ten years of combined experience in a senior leadership role in managing teams and resources.
  • Over 5 years' experience in the financial, banking, or mortgage industry preferred.
  • IBMi and DB2 testing experience a plus.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in managing and developing high-performing quality assurance teams.
  • Strong technical knowledge of software development life cycles, quality assurance methodologies, and automation tools.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with all levels of the organization and external stakeholders, including high-level problem-solving skills, spanning detailed conversation with technical resources.
  • Solid project management knowledge, with the ability to oversee and collaborate on multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • A strong inclination towards innovation and staying updated with the latest trends and technologies in quality assurance.
  • Ability to think strategically and integrate quality assurance with broader business objectives.
